Hüsker Dü is one of my favourite bands (duh) and their records Zen Arcade and New Day Rising are seminal in the creation of independent rock music as we know it today. I have a fascinating interest in this album, their first. The songs are often close to hardcore punk, but it's still very Hüsker Dü, with the typical guitar sound and Bob Moulds singing. The songs are shorter, faster and louder than the rest of their output (excluding their live-record Land Speed Record, released in 1982).The song Everything Falls Apart is so incredibly good that it could have been the best song on Zen Arcade as well. The cover of Donovan's Sunshine Superman is also worthwhile.
