Gary Numan - The Pleasure Principle (1979)

Gary Numans early electronic albums are a sort of mix between Kraftwerk and punk-rock. Easier and more accessible than Kraftwerk and also easier and less agressive than punk-rock. Still, this combination paid of and Cars (present on this record) became a chart-topper in the UK. Low and 'Heroes' by David Bowie must have been extremely important for Gary Numan, because this sounds a lot like these records.

By the way, if you're wondering what Gary's doing now: he's making industrial rock in the vein of Nine Inch Nails and he even looks like Trent Reznor now. Funny how people change. Also: listen to the song M.E. and try not to think about Basemant Jaxx.
