When I think about standard old school hip-hop, I think about Boogie Down Productions. Scott La Rock, KRS-One and D-Nice were Boogie Down Productions during the making of this album. Later that year, Scott La Rock got killed in a tragic accident to defuse a quarrel that D-Nice got into with another gang.Back to the music. As KRS-One raps on this album, Criminal Minded is not singing over a drumroll. This is where hip-hop got serious. Fantastic 80s beats and a lot of catchy and funny samples.
